a visit with the Donaldsons in Cambridge

My (Graeme) folks are in Cambridge for the year, with my dad doing his sabbatical at the college. So on the tail end of our “month long vacation outside of Holland” we decided to visit them and spend a week or so pretending to be scholarly.

And Cambridge is beautiful and makes you want to go to school again. Well, maybe not Amanda. But me for sure!

We resisted the punters, mainly after spending so much time watching the gondola guys rip off tourists in Venice a few days before.

Mathematicians bridge

We did see the famous “mathematicians bridge” which legend has it, stands up without the support of nails or cogs. That may have been true at one time, but I think it has been reinforced.

My parents are going to have a fantastic year! They seem right at home among the evensong services, cups of tea and crisp fall air.
