New Year’s Eve in Amsterdam

At home we decided to be “really Dutch” and make some olie bollen ourselves. They’re pretty much like fritters…deep fried dough filled with apples, raisins or whatever you want. Then you cover them in a generous helping of powdered sugar.

We journeyed through the war zone that was Amsterdam from 9pm – 2am to our friends Amanda & John’s house for some food, games and fireworks from the balcony. Take a look at the 360° view of the fireworks. And these aren’t your dollar store pops…these are professional fireworks, a major stimulus to the Dutch economy if they had been Dutch-made.
